Lekkalu is a private, by-hand finance tracker built by one person who believes good money habits, and the tools to build them, should belong to everyone.
“Lekkalu” comes from my native language, Telugu. It means finances, or, literally, accounts.
Growing up, I watched my parents sit down every evening and write their daily lekkalu in a notebook, every expense, every bit of income, by hand. No app, no automation. Just a few quiet minutes that built real awareness and discipline over the years.
That ritual is the whole idea behind this app. Lekkalu isn't just finance tracking, it's a habit-building tool designed to give you the same mindful relationship with money, one transaction at a time.
Our mission
A simple belief: financial education and tools should be for everyone.
Too many finance apps lock basic features behind meaningless paywalls. The only honest alternative was a spreadsheet, powerful, but not exactly intuitive or convenient. So I set out to build something better: private, simple, and genuinely free at its core.
Every other app had the same problems
I tried dozens. They all came down to the same four frustrations:
Data stored on third-party servers, one breach away from exposure.
Tracking and analytics quietly sold to advertisers.
Basic features locked behind expensive subscriptions.
No way to export your data, locked in for good.
So I built what I wished existed and now use myself: a completely private, offline-first finance app that respects your data. Everything is encrypted locally with AES-256 before it's stored in your browser. Your password never leaves your device. Your transactions never touch a server.
